Paul Waite - Director of Aspen Waite Limited

I developed an interest in becoming a Chartered Accountant at an early age and then concentrated on gaining the qualification in the shortest possible time. I also set about trying to prove that not all accountants had to be dull and boring.

I was fortunate to have an excellent training at Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) where I became a highly skilled auditor. Moving to Ernst and Young and then Baker Tilley enabled me to further develop my audit expertise at senior level and then make the transition to a corporate all rounder.

Working for these international companies allowed me to work for clients of huge sizes including many quoted companies. I was also fortunate to look after the major USA client at Baker Tilley allowing me to regularly visit California. Due to my outgoing personality I was also exposed to the National Training Programme at Ernst and Young and have been involved in training and lecturing ever since.

In 1993 I formed Aspen Waite and was fortunate to attract a good mix of clients at an early stage. I have also picked up a lot of project and consultancy work including a years contract for a large quoted UK bus and train plc. I have worked on assignments in France, Austria, Hungary, Poland the Bahamas, Thailand and the USA.

I enjoy meeting and helping people, understanding what makes someone tick and what motivates them. My greatest business skill is probably in helping others to maximise their potential. A large number of our clients started with us as start - up's or with turnover at modest levels. Outside of work I have played a number of sports at high level and for an old boy still keep very active today. I am a real rugby and horse racing nut and also very much enjoy travelling, music, reading and history.
